Party Music: Book Talk with Dr Saturu Ned

Studio Fallout & BPPALN (Black Panther Party Alumni Legacy Network) presents a book talk, signing and presentation by Dr. Saturu Ned (James Mott), original Black Panther Party member and singer from The Lumpen, the BPP's official funk band that carved the way for pioneers in revolutionary soul music.

Dr. Saturu will share with us stories and knowledge from Rickey Vincent's book about The Lumpen 'Party Music', an important publication on connecting the black music tradition with the black activist tradition.

Listen to this never-before-heard story of the Black Panthers’ R&B band the Lumpen, and how five rank-and-file members performed popular music for revolutionaries.
