is the black panther party still active?

The Black Panther Party officially disbanded in 1982 and is no longer active. Many of the original Party members are now elders within our community, but are still highly active in various facets of community building and support. The BPPALN (Black Panther Party Alumni Legacy Network) comprises of original Party members offering support in modern-day programs with their decades of experience.

how can i get involved in your mission?

There are many ways for you to get involved! We are always seeking volunteers in our rolling series of events and invitations each month. Please use the contact form to find out more.

We also encourage you to invest in your community through funding our community programs - every cent counts! Every contribution is met with a Thank You note, and if you would like to offer a large investment, we will send you a gift bag and letter of support and gratitude from our Elders.

If you want to get involved or are interested in outreach or creating programs in your area, we are able to provide guidance and consultation.

If I have a personal or legal issue, can the Panthers help me?

Depending on your state, we are only able to provide links or external resources to support your issue. Please use the contact form if you need guidance, our team will do our best to lead you in the right direction.

Is there a free food program that can help my family?

There are multiple organizations and resources for free food in your area. If you are in the East Bay of CA, please visit the website of Self Help Hunger Program (led by original Black Panther Party member Aunty Frances Moore) to find out their outreach days and events.

How can i contact an original black panther party member?

The BPPALN are directly connected to a few original Black Panther Party members who are still active in our community, and able to connect with you through various speaking engagements, or providing a presentation to your school, organization, establishment. One way to interact directly and learn from one of our Elders is to reserve your ticket for our Oakland Educational Walk & Talk tours. We host these group sessions every Saturday, and are available for private tours as well. Find out more here.
