BPP ALUMNI LEGACY EDUCATIONAL SESSION

Warmest of greetings to you!

Here we are in the third week of July and we have barely scratched the surface on the impact that young people and students have had on civil rights, human rights. social justice and the Black Power Movement. We looked at the 1968 San Francisco State University Student and Faculty supported strike for Ethnic Studies. The Black Student Union became the VanGuard of the Ethnic Studies demand movement. But who were the players other than black students in this historic team up? What role did they play in bringing issues to the table of change that not only affected the educational arena but impacted communities of color and working class people all over America. The ethnic studies student movement from the classes to the masses! Did the youth and student movement set the tone for community action? How did the Government react to their actions? What revolutionary groups developed out of the student movement? Well we think these are enough jump start questions for a lively examination of the topic. We will connect the dots with your participation. This will be an educational banquet with enough food for thought for everyone. See you Saturday!
